I think Connie Muren is the fulcrum of whatever happened in Dharwad, and that it has something to do with “the prevailing impression that she had discovered some disturbing secret about CMD and was silenced for planning to reveal it.” That quote was conspicuously removed from Connie’s article today, but it points to a pattern of misinformation around CMD that goes beyond the now obvious fact that its threat has been greatly exaggerated in order to justify the spread of colloids.
The way I see it, there are two possible explanations for what this disturbing secret about CMD could be:

Despite all lies to the contrary, there is a cure for CMD, but it’s being suppressed because it would put an end to the convenient excuse that maintains the totalitarian potential of G6 and colloids. Maybe Xu Shaoyong did catch CMD when he ate Lassgard tuna ten years ago, but he was cured and decided to keep that information to himself (which could also serve as motive for blowing him out of the sky).

Zhupao has been experimenting with a cure for CMD, but because they don’t give two shits about consent, they’ve been casually using people’s colloids to mess with their neurochemistries… and something went horribly wrong. The CMD article mentions that there have been successful animal trials for a potential cure, but there’s unfortunate precedent for covering up unsanctioned human trials with just that lie. Plus, the bit of information about how this cure could have adverse long-term effects has been (also conspicuously) removed:
What was Matvey Kozlov doing in Dharwad? My best guess is that Connie had made some type of deal with Yuri Golitsyn to reveal this secret about CMD, which he then used as leverage over Xu Shaoyong, possibly during the very helicopter ride that cost both their lives. Maybe Connie disagreed with Yuri’s methods, so she absconded and he sent his bodyguard after her? I’m sure Connie wasn’t happy with Yuri’s courting of the Russian far right!
What was Efua Amankwah-Crouse doing there? There’s apparently a theory that she was “working with Golitsyn on the development of an AI, possibly called AДИРА, with the capacity to penetrate G6’s quantum encryption.,” but I find that connection to be rather spurious. Sounds more like a lie that Zhupao came up with on the spot to smear both. So I’m drawing a blank on why she was there…
