Thank you for your concern, Tony! Unfortunately, if getting checked for CMD means having to get a colloid, I don’t think I’ll be doing that. This whole development is messing with my head plenty on its own without having to add a potentially harmful brain implant on top.
So far I’ve only found the one post where I’m positive it wasn’t me, though now I’ve been put into a position where I’m questioning everything either way. Hopefully this thread can serve to answer who it’s been happening to, which then leaves two other questions: how and why?
Regarding how, there’s this suspicion about Omnipedia’s AI editors and how they might be “full digital recreations of neurally mined human beings.” Could the same process be applied to us? I don’t have a colloid, but… what if I do have one, and I’ve been made to forget that fact? Could blankouts be involved somehow?
And as to why, I think hexnuts might be on to something with the idea that it’s about trying to draw our attention toward or away from specific topics. The posts that have so far been called out as fake are definitely made to appear genuine and innocuous, but if it keeps happening, we should keep out a close eye for any shifts in tone or subject matter!
