Neurocracy 3.0 launches this summer!

It’s my great honour and pleasure to officially announce…

:globe_with_meridians: NEUROCRACY 3.0 :globe_with_meridians:

Want to join a murder mystery book club where your weekly discussions create the talk pages of a Wikipedia from the future?

Neurocracy’s third season invites you to explore the articles of Omnipedia as they’re added and edited across ten weekly episodes, giving you the power to influence what happens by posting and debating your evolving theories on this forum!

Mark your calendars because the first episode will land on Wednesday July 16th, with the remaining nine episodes following on a weekly basis until the finale is released on Wednesday September 17th.

Now let’s take a look at what we have in store for you :eyes:

SIX NEW STORIES

As before we’ll be restarting the main murder mystery, but this time we’re adding a wide-ranging collection of additional stories that will make you question everything you thought you knew about the world of 2049.

We have a total of six fascinating and terrifying stories coming from new and returning writers, all of whom were given complete creative freedom to explore topics and share perspectives that sharpen the edges of Neurocracy’s sci-fi setting.

UPDATED PIPELINE APP

Can’t have a murder mystery without a sprawling conspiracy board, so we’re in the process of updating the Pipeline companion app so you can build and share your boards with each other!

That means you’ll be able to collaborate on logging clues, finding connections, and tackling the many mysteries of Neurocracy together :fist_right: :fist_left:

We’re also implementing some fancy new Drupal modules to make Omnipedia smoother and more responsive, meaning articles will load faster than ever.

WEIRDER TTARG MECHANICS

For the uninitiated, TTARG stands for Tabletop Alternate Reality Game, a term that best describes the nature of the dialogue that Neurocracy fosters between developers and players.

We’ve come up with a few interesting ways to keep the speculative work from Neurocracy’s previous two seasons in play for the third one, ensuring that both fresh-faced and veteran players will find plenty of surprises along the way.

The closer you get to the truth, the more you can expect the lies to push back :no_mouth:

We are so so excited to share what we’ve been working on, and to see it coming back to us through your eyes! If you can, please do spread the word as far and wide as you can

See you in two months! :smirk:

WRITING TEAM

For the upcoming release of NEUROCRACY 3.0, we’ve put together a stellar group of writers who are all eager to add new dimensions and perspectives to the world of 2049!

Let’s meet the team:

LEIGH ALEXANDER

Leigh Alexander has returned from jury duty on the Cupoid’s Arrow murder trial to grace us with another blistering story that may yet give Neurocracy’s central murder mystery an unexpected twist :eyes:

For a hint as to what Leigh will delve into, please do check out The Unreal World, her excellent newsletter on the intersection of unscripted television, game design, and online performance culture.

IO BLACK

Following Leigh as the second of two returning writers, Io Black is back with a twisted story that promises to deal with the fraught nature of what counts as real in our increasingly digital world.

Io’s formidable talent for speculative fiction is sure to raise the stakes once more, considering he previously wrote about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine — a year before it happened :grimacing:

MIKE COOK

Hiding out in the Omnipedia article about Efua Amankwah-Crouse all this time, Mike Cook has graciously agreed to officially join the writing team for the upcoming season! Check out their website why not.

As an enthusiastic researcher in machine creativity and procedural generation, Mike will be digging into the AI aspects of Neurocracy’s story world, with far-reaching implications for who or what you can trust :magnifying_glass_tilted_left:

BAHIYYA KHAN

Game designer, writer, and filmmaker Bahiyya Khan joins the Neurocracy team from South Africa with a staunch mission to put her country on full blast, as seen through the lens of a disgraced cover band :collision:

Check out this amazing profile to get an idea of Bahiyya’s previous work, which includes the IGF award-winning FMV game after HOURS!

ALEXIS ONG

Alexis Ong has agreed to make the leap from writing about Neurocracy to writing for it, contributing a wild story that promises to deal with Singapore’s murky legacy of sand theft.

With a sharp eye and an even sharper way with words, Alexis brings a rich and varied history of covering internet culture to the world of 2049 :folded_hands:

OLI A. WHITE

It’s been said that the detached tone of Omnipedia lends itself well to casually describing the horrors of living in 2049, so it makes absolute sense to bring in Oli A. White!

Check out their stellar work on the No Sleep Podcast for a taste of the type of terrifying tale they’ll be bringing to the world of Neurocracy :skull:
