Disappointed about the delay in .design museum's opening

I know Xu Shaoyong’s death is a big deal and all, but I’m just really darn disappointed that it just had to happen on the same day .design’s new museum on Pulau Bahru was supposed to be unveiled… I was really looking forward to that, as all the art and tech there is apparently going to be really cool! Not that I’d ever have money to visit it myself, but one of my fave Grandstand streamer’s was going to showcase the museum during the opening event. I guess it’s still happening tomorrow, but who knows if it’ll be the same.

While looking into the news about the opening ceremony’s delay, I also happened to read a bit about India’s sand syndicates from Pulau Bahru’s Omnipedia page. I had no idea illegal sand mining had became that huge! Who even needs that much sand anyway? There are artificial options, and new land reclamation projects are nowadays very restricted anyway. :open_mouth:

Agreed. Don’t know why the whole world has to stop in its tracks because some rich guy died. I imagine Zhupao is a major funder of .design or something

To be honest, I think there’s more to the story then that. I think something is wrong with this place, and they used the assassination attempt as an excuse to delay the public opening to fix what’s wrong. but what do i know? I’m just a bear on the internet.

I’m suspicious about the delay too - there’s been almost no coverage of what artists or installations would be part of the museum’s opening. That seems…odd to me. And while the death of Xu is certainly shocking, unless it comes out that he/Zhupao were heavily involved in funding etc., why would that call for a delay? I’m inclined to agree with @PolarisBear that something else may be going on here.

agreed with all of you. I understand the delay! But the lack of promotion is what strikes me - although I don’t know what they could be hiding, but when is that ever true…
